Nichols Banjo- Stolen From Our Home in the 1990’s

I built this banjo several years ago and I really liked it. It had a Gibson- Kulish tone ring in it and a Nichols custom made maple shell. Someone broke into our home and stole it and a guitar several years ago. The guitar was an old Kay that I had re-braced with Martin style braces. I refinished it and put a decal on it that said K Mart. (Kay w/Martin braces, get it?) My insurance company paid me for the loss but I’d rather had the instruments than the money. The resonator has the prettiest wood on it that I’ve ever seen on a banjo. I’m sure it could be identified by this woodgrain. It is like a fingerprint.

If you ever see this resonator or banjo, please contact me. Since K Mart never made guitars, you can bet that if you see one of those, it is mine. I’d be interested in having both these instruments back. Here is another picture. I have several more pictures of these instruments that are the old 35MM type. When these were built and these pictures were made the digital camera age was not here yet. I still used 35 MM film back then. Imagine that. I didn’t list the guitar pictures because I figured that whoever stole it would remove that K Mart decal first thing.
