Uncle Will- Owen Saunders

Here is Owen Saunders playing the fiddle and singing with David Davis & The Warrior River Boys. Owen likes this Jake Landers tune. I met Owen a few years ago. He is a great fiddle player and a real character.

  1. I am trying to search for any information on a William S. Saunders who is my great grandfather. I was always told growing up that he was Missouri State champion fiddle player many times. He was phenomenal fiddle player and only met him a couple times and heard him once. I was you when he passed away. In searching I found an Owen Saunders which is why I am here. Is he by chance related to my grandfather? He had two daughters, Virginia and Geneva and a son Bill. I’m not sure if there were any more kids or not. But William lives in Wyatt Missouri until his death. If he is related to William I would like to find out if there are any recording anywhere. And if not, I do apologize. Thank you for your time.

  2. I know that Owen Saunders is originally from around north Florida. He is an excellent fiddle player who has played in some famous bands. He now lives near Chattanooga. The song he was singing about “Uncle Will” was written by Jake Landers of Alabama. Jake also wrote the song, “Walk Softly On This Heart Of Mine”. I don’t know if Owen has an uncle named Will. You can find Owen on on Facebook. I hope this helps you in your search. You never know. He may be your kinfolks. Ronnie Nichols
