Simple fix for a Cadine Electronic Guitar Tuner

It seems like almost everyone uses an electronic tuner these days. There are some who still resist, but most everyone I know uses these clip-on tuners. They have gotten pretty cheap and some are good and some are just average. I used a Snark Tuner for quite a while. It worked well but the thing I noticed about it was that it was almost impossible to see it in the bright sunlight and it seemed to be hard on batteries.

I bought a cheap tuner called a Cadine. It was cheap on Ebay (around $6.00) and I found that it could be seen in bright sunshine better than the Snark. The only problem I had with the Cadine was an annoying rattle that it produced when you hit certain strings. I put up with this until I tried using it on a bass fiddle. It rattled and buzzed badly. After disassembling it and inspecting it, I found what was causing the annoying noise. There are 2 little plastic buttons which work the controls. They were just loose enough to cause this sound.

I first put some CA glue on the inside where they were joined together. This corrected the problem. Then I found an easier way. I just took a small narrow piece of masking tape and put it over these 2 buttons. This stopped them from rattling. A simple fix indeed for such an irritating noise.
