The Snow Hill Bluegrass Show Closed- Updated February 4, 2021

Snow Hill Bluegrass Show Closed : February 4, 2021

Show Permanently Cancelled

I hate to inform you that our Snow Hill Bluegrass show will now be a thing of the past. Chief Harris and I have decided that due to all the restrictions that will be imposed on crowd size, we will close down the show for good. There is no way to continue having a show in this place with folks having to stay so far apart and also the restrictions on the number of folks that can be in the kitchen and in the back jamming rooms. The legal liability is surely a factor for any public gathering these days, too. We hated to make this decision, but we felt it was time to do so. We extend our sincere thanks to the Highway 58 Volunteer Fire Department and their Board of Directors for allowing us to use this facility for all these years. Personally, I want to thank Chief Charles Harris for his dedication and hard work. It has been a pleasure for me to work with the Chief for all these years. We are extremely grateful to all our patrons, workers, and musicians for 17 years of fun and helping the community.

Update March 3, 2021: Some guy sent me a message and said he was unhappy about us closing this show. He also said the public should decide when to close this show and that we were just bowing down to political correctness. If this guy (or anyone else) wants this show to continue, he should get his billfold out and spend enough money and time to continue the show. Maybe this guy is smart enough to figure out how to do this with all the rules that are now in place due to the Covid restrictions. Evidently, some folks think you just open the doors and let people file in. There is a lot involved in running a show like this including finding a place that is willing to risk a lawsuit, finding people to work, and finding money to finance it. I’d encourage anyone who is willing to take on this project to jump in there and do it. We did it for 17 years and I, personally, spent a lot of my own money and time to make it happen. I’d like to have a similar music venue in the area but I’m not willing or able to do it right now. So, if you want to criticize us for closing this show, you should be willing to take it on or start a new one somewhere and put your money where your mouth is. Ronnie Nichols

We are as sad as anybody and we will miss all the music and seeing all our friends. Thanks for your kind words. There are some folks out there who apparently complain about everything they read. It’s nice to hear some positive comments from folks like you. RN

I have to say I am sorry it had to close. I have wonderful memories of the music, the people, the food and experience. However, I understand from the explanations of Ronnie. Usually people do not understand the amount of work that goes into any endeavor whether concert, a painting, a garden or anything worthwhile. My eternal thanks to all those that made it happen!
